Greeting- 2 minutes
Teacher to Students- Listen & Repeat (some or all)
Hello, Hi, Hey, Howdy, G’day, Good Morning, Hola, Aloha, Bon Jour, Bon Dia, Bon Journo, Ni Hao, Konnichiwa, Anyohaseyo, Sambaino, Kiola, Selamat Pagi (am) (pm-Siang), Shalom, Jambo, Asalamalekum, Zzdrastvet-yah, Namaste.

CLOTHES Song- 5 minutes
to tune and similar movements of Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes
Cap, T-shirt, Pants and Shoes. Pants and Shoes. 2X
Sweater, Skirt, and Shorts and Socks.
Cap, T-shirt, Pants and Shoes. Pants and Shoes.
ALT- Lead song and movement.
Students- Sing and move with the song.

ACTIVITY- Colors- Listen, Point and Repeat- 5 minutes
HRT- WYAN- Ask students the color names they already know in Japanese BEFORE writing on blackboard.
Blackboard- yellow, orange, red, white, black, blue, green, pink.
EigoNoto- page 30-31, 33
ALT- Listen and Repeat color names from blackboard. Then, with texts open, call out paired words: Page 31 (top right corner): green cap, orange skirt, yellow sweater, brown socks, blue pants, red shorts, blue shoes, white t-shirt.

Janken 4’s- Warm-Up/Review/Conversation Skills Practice- 5 minutes
ALT/HRT: Janken and do the conversation first together, then with a few students to practice/demonstrate.
Students: Each student Janken and Converse with 3 others in groups of 4.
EigoNoto- page 30-31

  • W) blue shoes.
  • L) (point to the colored clothes on pages 30-31)

Let’s Listen- 5 minutes
EigoNoto- page 33
CD- track 35-36. Yellow shoes? NO. Blue shoes? YES. Red t-shirt? YES.
HRT- Introduce and lead the activity, check answers at end.

Let’s Listen- 7 minutes
EigoNoto- page 35
CD- track 37-38. blue shirt/ red socks/ orange skirt/ yellow cap/ white shoes.
HRT- Introduce and lead the activity, check answers at end.

Activity- Finish coloring clothes cards- 5 minutes
EigoNoto- page 65.
Materials- colored pens and/or pencils.
Students- Finish coloring ONE page of clothes.

Activity- Communication- 8 minutes
Materials- Students’ colored clothes cards
  • W) I have a blue skirt.
  • L) I have a pink skirt.
Students- Pairs Janken, winner starts. Loser answers with the same clothing of whatever color they have.

Wrap-Up- 3 minutes
(Present common mistakes to the whole class. Write the mistaken point on the blackboard, and ask if anybody can see the mistake.) Or-
HRT to Students, in Japanese:
-What did we talk about today? 
-Were there some words you already knew?
-Did you learn any new words?
-What was fun or interesting?
-What was difficult?
-How can we make that easier next time?

Closing- 1 minute
Students: ‘Thank you! Good bye!’
Teachers: ‘You’re welcome! Good bye!’
